The Speaker's Tribunal of the Jharkhand Assembly disqualified two legislators, Lobin Hembrom and Jai Prakash Bhai Patel, under the anti-defection law, starting from July 26, as per an official announcement on Thursday.
This decision was made on the eve of the assembly’s six-day monsoon session starting from Friday. JMM's Hembrom and Congress's Patel faced proceedings initiated by JMM and BJP respectively for anti-party activities.
Hembrom contested the Rajmahal Lok Sabha seat independently, opposing JMM candidate Vijay Hansdak, while Patel joined Congress before the polls and ran for the Hazaribag seat. Both were defeated in the elections, leading to Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto's judgment on Thursday.
