Pakistan's Election Commission has officially recognized 39 Members of the National Assembly as representatives of Imran Khan's PTI party. This comes after the Supreme Court ordered the move in a decisive verdict on the reserved seats case.

On Wednesday, the Election Commission issued the notification for the 39 MNAs, as reported by the Dawn newspaper.

In a landmark decision on July 12, the Supreme Court declared that PTI is eligible for reserved seats for women and non-Muslims, thereby reinstating the party's parliamentary status despite a narrow 8-5 split among the judges.

The court's majority judgement revealed that 39 out of the 80 MNAs listed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) genuinely belong to PTI. The remaining 41 independents have 15 days to submit notarized statements confirming their political party affiliations.

The ECP had delayed implementing the apex court's decision until last week. In the latest notification, the ECP stated that the returned candidates for the general seats in the National Assembly are officially recognized as PTI representatives.
