Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said on Saturday that the conflict in military-ruled Myanmar is deteriorating. She urged the ruling junta to consider an alternative path for the country's betterment.

Speaking to reporters during a series of regional summits in Laos, Wong highlighted Australia's deep concerns regarding the Myanmar conflict. She also conveyed her support for a peace initiative led by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Wong emphasized that the current situation in Myanmar is unsustainable and requires urgent attention and action from the ruling authorities.
