Ten states and Union Territories were notably absent from the ninth Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, according to CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam.
The meeting saw attendance from 26 participants including Chief Ministers and Lt Governors. Absentees included Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Delhi. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee walked out despite an arrangement to speak before lunch.
Prime Minister Modi urged states to compete for FDI to ensure investment reaches all regions. Discussions also touched upon demographic management, zero poverty, and the development of Vision India @2047 aimed at achieving a $30 trillion economy.
