Veteran Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader and former Maharashtra assembly speaker Haribhau Bagde has been appointed as the new governor of Rajasthan.
Affectionately known as 'Nana,' Bagde is celebrated for his passion for farming and his admirable political journey, which began in a modest setting in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, previously called Aurangabad.
Sharing insights about his new role, Bagde recounted, 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi called me yesterday to inform me that I would be appointed the governor of Rajasthan. He also instructed me to keep it confidential.'
Bagde, aged 79, discussed his long association with the RSS and the Jana Sangh, highlighting his readiness to face challenges. He added that his knowledge and work within the party likely contributed to this appointment.
With a solid political career spanning decades, Bagde has held numerous significant positions, including becoming Maharashtra's first formally educated family member and making notable contributions as an MLA and assembly speaker. Despite controversies, Bagde remains committed to his new role and vows to serve with dedication.
