Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday paid tribute to Army jawan Mohit Rathour, who was killed in action in Jammu and Kashmir, according to a statement by the UP government.

Adityanath declared Rs 50 lakh in financial aid for Rathour's family, a government job for a relative, and a road in Budaun, Rathour's hometown, will be named in his honor. He assured the bereaved family of the state government's support during this time of sorrow.

Budaun District Magistrate Nidhi Srivastava confirmed that Rifleman Mohit Rathour, aged 27, was cremated on Sunday with full state honors. Rathour, who joined the Army in 2017, was the only son of his parents, and recently married. He is survived by his father, three sisters, and wife.

Rathour's life was tragically cut short during an attack by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara sector on Saturday. Despite the loss, Indian Army successfully foiled the attack, killing one Pakistani intruder.
