The Union Government faces severe criticism from the opposition following the derailment of the Howrah-CSMT Express near Chakradharpur in Jharkhand, resulting in two deaths. The Samajwadi Party MP, Akhilesh Yadav, accused the central government of neglecting safety despite budget allocations.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi condemned the lack of action on train accidents and criticized the Railway Minister for failing to ensure safety and accountability. Accusations of negligence and demands for proper action were also echoed by Congress MP Manickam Tagore, who labeled Ashwini Vaishnaw as the 'Minister of Railway Accidents.'
TMC RS MP Susmita Dev claimed that rail accidents have surged under the BJP's decade-long rule, questioning Prime Minister Modi's promises of a developed India. Rescue operations are ongoing after the train derailed at a speed of 120 kmph, caused by a pre-existing goods train derailment on the downline.
