Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman alleged that a coordinated conspiracy is undermining India's social fabric, parliamentary traditions, economy, and armed forces. She claimed that the attacks are creating instability and discouraging foreign investment, and called for unity against such efforts during her Budget 2024-25 discussion in the Lok Sabha.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has accused elements within India of orchestrating a conspiracy to damage the nation's image and deter foreign investment. Addressing the Lok Sabha during a discussion on the Budget 2024-25, Sitharaman said that India's social fabric, parliamentary traditions, economy, and armed forces are under severe attack.
The minister warned that the alleged conspiracy is sowing mistrust and exposing societal fault lines, threatening the country's stability. She suggested that efforts are being made to escalate tensions, especially targeting the armed forces under the guise of other disputes. Sitharaman specifically pointed to the Agniveer controversy as an example.
The Finance Minister criticized the negative portrayal of entrepreneurship in India, arguing that it is undermining efforts by hard-working entrepreneurs and spreading distrust towards business and wealth creators. She expressed concern that rumors about India's unsuitability for foreign investment are gaining traction, and called for unified action against those spreading instability.
