Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) legislator Rohit Pawar on Tuesday criticized the ruling coalition for its indecisiveness on the Maratha reservation issue, stressing that a constitutional amendment is necessary to secure quotas in jobs and education for the community.
Addressing media at Rashtrawadi Bhavan in Latur, Pawar sidestepped queries on Maratha groups' demand for reservation under the OBC category. He highlighted that the Maratha reservation was previously annulled after a supporter of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis challenged it in court.
Pawar also warned of potential social unrest in Maharashtra akin to Manipur, alleging that current tensions could lead to riots ahead of the assembly elections. He extended an invitation to Prakash Ambedkar to join the Maha Vikas Aghadi to strengthen the opposition against the BJP.
