The BJP on Thursday accused the AAP government's agencies of a scam in the desilting of drains in India's national capital and called for a CBI investigation into the matter.
During a press conference, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva alleged that the 'corruption and loot' by the AAP-led Delhi government and the MCD resulted in the tragic deaths of three civil services aspirants, who were caught in a flooded basement library of a coaching center in Old Rajinder Nagar, as well as other rain-related incidents in the city.
No immediate response was available from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding these allegations. Sachdeva highlighted that the Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) department, Public Works Department (PWD), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) collectively removed massive quantities of silt from drains in the fiscal year 2022-23.
He questioned where the silt had been disposed of, citing a lack of records for trucks transporting silt to designated dumping sites. Sachdeva claimed the mismanagement involved hundreds of crores of rupees and called for a stringent CBI investigation to hold the responsible authorities accountable.
