Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has sharply criticized Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray for his recent challenge to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, suggesting a growing rift between the former allies.

Shinde argued that those issuing challenges must possess the strength to back them up, indicating that random comments cannot decide political futures. His remarks come after Thackeray's pointed statements about Devendra Fadnavis and his alleged plans to jail Thackeray's son, Aaditya.

BJP's Maharashtra president Chandrashekhar Bawankule also weighed in, criticizing Thackeray for what he termed 'mental bankruptcy' due to the Shiv Sena's declining vote share in Konkan and Mumbai. He stressed that Thackeray's alliance switch to Congress has cost him support and tarnished his image.
