Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday consulted with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to assess the relief and rescue operations following extensive damage caused by heavy rainfall across the state.
Dhami expressed his gratitude to Shah for assuring all possible assistance. 'When the top leadership stands strongly with us in difficult times like this, it gives strength to all of us,' Dhami stated on X.
Heavy rains resulted in 14 fatalities and substantial damage to roads and bridges, especially in Tehri and Rudraprayag districts. The Indian Air Force's Chinook and MI17 helicopters have been deployed to expedite evacuations, and the Kedarnath pilgrimage has been temporarily halted to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
