India and Vietnam fortified their defence partnership during the 14th Defence Policy Dialogue held in New Delhi. Co-chaired by Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane and Vietnam's Deputy Minister of National Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, the meeting spotlighted emerging areas for cooperation including cyber security and military medicine.

Significantly, both sides reviewed bilateral defence cooperation and lauded the progress made since the signing of the 'Joint Vision Statement on India-Vietnam Defence Partnership towards 2030' in June 2022. Post-discussion, the defence leaders inked a Letter of Intent aimed at enhancing cooperation in training, including instructor exchanges.

Vietnam outlined five focus areas for collaboration: delegation exchanges, staff-talks, service cooperation, education, and defence industry partnership. India's Defence Secretary welcomed these proposals while emphasizing the potential of the domestic defence industry to aid in capacity building for Vietnam's armed forces.
