Maharashtra politics took a dramatic turn on Saturday as dismissed police officer Sachin Waze renewed bribery allegations against former home minister and NCP (SP) leader Anil Deshmukh. This prompted the opposition to question the timing, while Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis guaranteed a thorough investigation.
The war of words between Deshmukh and Fadnavis escalated, with Deshmukh accusing the BJP leader of exerting pressure during his tenure as opposition leader to frame key politicians, including then-CM Uddhav Thackeray. Fadnavis, however, pledged an impartial inquiry.
The allegations have intensified the political rivalry, with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also downplaying political vendetta claims. This revived controversy adds to the political turbulence as the state gears up for the upcoming assembly elections.
