Political Clash in Worli: MNS's Deshpande vs. Shiv Sena's Aaditya Thackeray
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Sandeep Deshpande is poised to challenge Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray for the Worli seat in the upcoming Maharashtra state assembly elections. Shiv Sena's lead dramatically reduced during the recent Lok Sabha polls, presenting the MNS with a potential opening.

Sandeep Deshpande of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is set to contest against Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray for the Worli seat in the forthcoming state assembly elections. MNS sources confirmed this development, citing decreased voter support for Shiv Sena during the recent Lok Sabha polls in Worli.
Worli, a neighborhood known for its affluent residents and high-rises, also faces issues like stalled slum redevelopment projects and dilapidated chawls. MNS President Raj Thackeray recently met CM Eknath Shinde to discuss these issues, leading to a directive from Shinde to prioritize Worli's concerns.
Despite Aaditya Thackeray's previous unchallenged victory with a margin of over 62,000 votes, the reduced lead of just 6,715 votes for Shiv Sena in the latest Lok Sabha elections offers an opportunity for the MNS. The ruling alliance's stance on contesting remains unclear, but both sides are actively seeking to bolster their presence in Worli.
