The Congress party has unveiled its plans to strategize and mobilize for the Maharashtra elections, choosing the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi as a symbolic launch date. Senior party leader Ramesh Chennithala made the announcement on Sunday.
The event, set for August 20 in Mumbai, will feature key figures from the Congress' coalition partners in the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA), including Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray and NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar. Prominent Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are also slated to attend.
MVA allies, who performed strongly in the recent Lok Sabha elections, will discuss seat-sharing plans for the upcoming polls, aiming to challenge the current BJP-led government. Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole emphasized the coalition's commitment to halting the government's alleged sell-off of state assets and promised comprehensive reforms.
