PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and other political leaders were reportedly detained at their homes on the fifth anniversary of the reading down of Article 370 of the Constitution, which provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Amid increased security, Mufti stated that her party's office had been locked down. Similarly, the office of Apni Party was also shut as a precautionary measure, according to sources.
National Conference spokesman Tanvir Sadiq shared on social media that he was placed under house arrest, decrying it as unnecessary and illegal. The detainment has sparked significant backlash on social platforms, highlighting the ongoing political tension in the region since the Centre revoked Article 370 and reorganized Jammu and Kashmir.
