In response to the recent resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the anticipated formation of an interim government in Bangladesh, security measures at the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi have been significantly increased, according to an official statement from the Delhi Police.
Additional law enforcement personnel and barricades have been deployed outside the High Commission as well as Indira Gandhi International Airport, where Hasina is suspected to possibly arrive.
The countrywide protests, which have left over 100 people dead, have been fueled by discontent over the controversial job reservation system that benefits families of veterans from the 1971 liberation war.
