Rajya Sabha proceedings turned chaotic on Thursday morning as opposition members protested the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat from the Olympics. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, visibly anguished, left the House for a while after refusing to allow Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge to discuss the issue.
The situation escalated as TMC's Derek O'Brien attempted to raise additional points but was stopped by the Chair. Dhankhar reprimanded O'Brien, condemning his actions and warning of potential eviction from the House. The opposition's uproar led to a walkout, highlighting their frustration.
With tensions running high, Dhankhar expressed his inability to continue presiding over the session, stating he was leaving 'with a heavy heart'. Deputy Chairman Harivansh took over the proceedings during the Zero Hour.
