Rashtra Sevika Samiti chief Shantha Kumari on Thursday expressed concerns over attempts to create confusion and instability in India, in light of the current turmoil in Bangladesh. She urged Hindu society to stay united and vigilant to counter these efforts.
The Rashtra Sevika Samiti is a women's organization aligned with the ruling BJP's ideological fountainhead, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Kumari's statements came in a video message, where she condemned the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh since the fall of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government.
Kumari detailed incidents such as attacks on Hindu temples and the kidnapping of girls, labeling them as unacceptable. She emphasized the need for Hindu society and Rashtra Sevika Samiti volunteers to unite and tackle these anti-India forces.
Following the fall of Hasina's government, Bangladesh saw at least 232 deaths in violent incidents, raising the death toll to 560 since the mid-July anti-quota protests. Hindu temples, businesses, and households were vandalized, with women being assaulted and Hindu leaders killed. Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has vowed to ensure citizen safety as he takes over the interim government.
