Tragedy struck in Delhi's Mahendru Enclave on Saturday as an old building collapsed, claiming one life and leaving two others with minor injuries, according to the Delhi Police.
The Assistant Regional Fire Officer, CL Meena, revealed that they received a distress call reporting the collapse. 'Three vehicles were dispatched by the Delhi Fire Service,' Meena stated. The building, identified as a banquet hall, was reported to be in a dilapidated condition and had a tilted telephone tower on its roof. Three injured individuals were promptly hospitalized, and a search operation was launched to determine if anyone else was trapped inside.
Eyewitness Paras, who lives nearby, recounted the terrifying moment the old banquet hall came crashing down at around 3 PM. He fled the scene immediately, fearing for his child's safety, who also sustained minor scratches. Repair work was reportedly underway at the rear of the building when it crumbled, causing concern that more individuals might be buried in the rubble. The exact cause of the collapse is yet to be determined.
