The decision has been welcomed by the BJP, with Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari calling for the resignation of the Chief Minister and Health Minister, alleging their involvement.
Advocate Billwadal Bhattacharyya noted the police's initial casual approach, registering it as a suicide case, and pointed out delays in filing an FIR. Bhattacharyya praised the court’s order for a CBI probe under its supervision and emphasized the importance of protective measures for the victim’s family.
Advocate Koustav Bagchi expressed satisfaction with the court's decision, stating that it would restore public confidence. The court has instructed Kolkata Police to transfer all relevant documents to the CBI. Earlier, investigations confirmed rape and murder, much to the alarm of the medical community, which is demanding thorough scrutiny and improved safety for doctors.
