Ukraine has destroyed a key bridge in Russia's Kursk region and struck a second one nearby, just two weeks into its cross-border incursion. The move disrupts Russian supply routes and possibly signals that Ukrainian troops are planning to secure a foothold in the region.
Russia's pro-Kremlin military bloggers acknowledged that the destruction of the first bridge over the Seim River would impede supplies to Russian forces repelling Ukraine's incursion. Ukraine's air force chief, Lt. Mykola Oleshchuk, released a video showing a Ukrainian airstrike that destroyed the bridge.
Two days later, Ukrainian troops hit a second bridge in Russia, according to Lt. Oleshchuk and Russian regional governor Alexei Smirnov. Confirmed Ukrainian strikes would complicate Moscow's attempts to resupply its forces in Kursk. Kyiv has been tight-lipped about the scope and goals of its incursion, the largest attack on Russia since World War II.
