Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia stated that residents of the capital are praying fervently for the release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Satyendar Jain. Sisodia remarked on the respect and affection he received from the public during his 17-month incarceration.
He highlighted CM Kejriwal's impactful initiatives, which include free electricity for households, no-cost treatments in government hospitals, and complimentary travel for women in DTC buses. Sisodia suggested that Kejriwal's popularity and success in governance led to his current imprisonment by political rivals. 'I believe Kejriwal will be out of jail soon,' he asserted.
Sisodia, who was released on bail on August 9 following an order by the Supreme Court, visited Kalkaji Temple to offer prayers. His bail comes with strict conditions, including surrendering his passport and refraining from influencing witnesses.
Sisodia was detained by the CBI in February 2023 over allegations of irregularities in the formulation of Delhi's now-scrapped excise policy. The Supreme Court's bail order was passed by Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan. The policy was withdrawn amid opposition claims of misconduct, with the CBI designating Sisodia as a crucial figure in the suspected criminal conspiracy.
