A Danish court has denied India's request for the extradition of Danish national Niels Holck, citing potential human rights violations. Danish Court Denies India's Extradition Request of Niels Holck

A Danish court has rejected India's request to extradite Niels Holck, sought for a 1995 weapons smuggling case. The court cited potential human rights violations as a reason for its decision.

According to Public Prosecutor Anders Rechendorff, negotiations between the public prosecutor and India had been ongoing for six years. Despite guarantees from India, the court ruled that Holck's safety could not be ensured.

Holck admitted in a Danish court to being part of a smuggling operation in December 1995. Although others involved were prosecuted and imprisoned in India, Holck escaped and returned to Denmark. The recent trial in Denmark focused on the extradition law criteria rather than Holck's innocence.
