Jammu and Kashmir Congress president Tariq Hameed Karra on Thursday filed his nomination papers from the Central Shalteng Assembly constituency, urging voters to seize the opportunity to shape the region's destiny for the next 100 years.

Karra, a 69-year-old former minister, defended the Congress-National Conference alliance, describing it as a necessary measure to combat 'dictatorship' and reclaim 'what is rightfully ours.' The veteran politician also stressed the symbolic importance of his nomination as a representation of the people's aspirations for democracy and justice.

The filing marked the last day for nominations for the second phase of the assembly elections scheduled across various segments in Jammu and Kashmir on September 25. Accompanied by enthusiastic supporters, Karra reaffirmed his commitment to fight for the restoration of statehood and protection of the region's unique identity against the BJP's divisive policies.
