Drone Terror Strikes Fear in Manipur: Panic in Bishnupur and Imphal East

Residents of Bishnupur and Imphal East districts in Manipur plunged their homes into darkness on Friday night after multiple drone sightings fueled widespread panic, officials reported.

Earlier this week, militants utilized drones to drop bombs in two locations within Imphal West district, resulting in injuries and fatalities.

On Friday night, drones were reportedly sighted in Narainsena, Nambol Kamong in Bishnupur, and Pukhao, Dolaithabi, Shantipur in Imphal East, prompting locals to turn off their lights in fear.

Security forces are maintaining high alert, particularly in peripheral regions, to observe the movement of large groups, an official stated.

In Bishnupur district, multiple illumination rounds fired into the sky added to the public's panic and confusion, leaving unclear who was responsible for the action.

The first usage of drones as a weapon was recorded on September 1 in Koutruk village, Imphal West, resulting in two deaths and nine injuries from the combined drone and gun attack.

The following day, another drone attack in Senjam Chirang, roughly three kilometers away, injured three more individuals.
