Katsunobu Kato, Japan's former health minister, called for the compilation of a stimulus package aimed at boosting domestic investment and revitalizing regional economies.
'Japan is on the cusp of emerging from deflation. We shouldn't stop this drive and instead accelerate it,' Kato stated. He highlighted the goals of doubling household income and enhancing capital expenditure during a news conference where he announced his candidacy for the Liberal Democratic Party's leadership race scheduled for Sept. 27.
Kato's proposal is set to play a crucial role in his campaign strategy as he vies for leadership within the ruling party.
