Senior BJP leader Agnimitra Paul faced 'go back' slogans from protesting junior doctors on Wednesday near Swasthya Bhavan, the health department's headquarters.
The junior doctors have been protesting since Tuesday, demanding the removal of senior health officials and the Kolkata Police Commissioner for allegedly mishandling a rape and murder case involving a doctor from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Paul stated she was only passing through the area on her way to a nearby BJP office and not participating in the protest. However, a protesting doctor accused Paul of trying to politicize the agitation by speaking to the media beside the protest site.
