Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, now a Congress candidate, officially filed her nomination for the Haryana Assembly elections from the Julana seat on Wednesday. She called on people to support the Congress party in its bid to form a government led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
The Congress has not yet declared its chief ministerial nominee for Haryana, emphasizing that this decision will be made by the party's legislators and high command if they come to power. Phogat stressed the importance of public blessings for Hooda's leadership to resume halted developmental projects.
Deepender Singh Hooda and Satpal Brahmachari, Congress MPs, accompanied Phogat during this significant move. Phogat, alongside Bajrang Punia, had joined the Congress after leading a protest against the former Wrestling Federation of India's head Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Phogat, confident of a big win, also stated that the BJP needs to be ousted to bring back Congress under Hooda's leadership. The election for Haryana's 90 assembly seats is slated for October 5, with results to be declared on October 8.
