On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, called on the people of Jammu and Kashmir to support the INDIA bloc in the ongoing assembly elections, which are the first since the abrogation of Article 370.
Addressing the electorate on social media, Gandhi highlighted that every vote for the INDIA bloc would restore their constitutional rights, create jobs, and strengthen women. He labeled the conversion of the state into a union territory as a violation and an insult.
The elections, which cover 24 constituencies across seven districts in the first phase, are the first to be held in the last 10 years. Over 23 lakh voters are set to determine the fate of 219 candidates. The remaining voting phases will occur later this month, with results expected on October 8.
