In a fiery denunciation, Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala took aim at Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday, alleging that Vijayan is shielding those involved in criminal activities. Chennithala highlighted that the CM has cleared his political secretary and ADGP of wrongdoing, despite serious claims raised by CPM MLA PV Anwar. Notably, Anwar accused the CM's political secretary of operating like a criminal syndicate leader and implicated him in gold smuggling, also questioning ADGP's interactions with RSS leaders.
Simultaneously, the Kerala Government has initiated a Vigilance Inquiry into serious allegations against two senior IPS officers, M.R. Ajithkumar, ADGP (Law and Order), and Sujith Das. This probe follows a formal complaint by Nilambur MLA PV Anwar, who flagged multiple concerns including unlawful tree felling, bribery in a case related to Sajan Scaria, and the misappropriation of seized gold by the officers and members of the DANSAF Team. Anwar also questioned the construction of a luxurious, potentially illicitly-funded residence by Ajithkumar.
Chief Minister Vijayan, addressing the media, emphasized that MLA Anwar should have taken these matters to the party before publicly discussing them. Vijayan noted that standard procedures were followed after Anwar’s complaint, and an elite investigation team was formed under the state police chief. He stressed the importance of internal mechanisms within the CPI(M) for addressing such serious allegations privately before resorting to media channels.
