With the Haryana assembly elections on the horizon, BSP supremo Mayawati has made a fervent appeal to Dalit leaders, urging them to sever ties with the Congress and other 'casteist parties.' She invoked the legacy of Dr BR Ambedkar, advising Dalit leaders to follow his principles.
Mayawati's comments come as the BSP-INLD alliance aims to present itself as a pro-Dalit alternative in the state. Through a series of posts on X, Mayawati accused the Congress and other casteist parties of exploiting Dalit leaders for political gain and subsequently sidelining them.
Highlighting her own resignation from the Rajya Sabha over violence against Dalits in Saharanpur, she reiterated the need for Dalit leaders to take inspiration from Ambedkar and detach from parties that neglect their welfare. She also criticized the Congress for its historical opposition to reservations for Dalits and marginalized communities.
