Governor Highlights Development Needs in Chirang District Meeting

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya met with the Chirang district administration, focusing on government schemes, environmental sustainability, education, healthcare, and women's empowerment. He emphasized tackling TB, reducing school dropout rates, and fostering national spirit among students. Law and order were also reviewed by the Superintendent of Police.

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya convened a meeting on Monday with the district administration of Chirang at the IOCL conference hall in Dhaligaon. The discussion centered on assessing the progress of various Central and State Government schemes implemented across the district. Chirang District Commissioner Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy provided an update on the execution of development schemes.

Governor Acharya emphasized the importance of engaging students and residents in initiatives such as water conservation, plantation drives, and environmental sustainability. He stressed the significance of natural farming, maintaining a clean lifestyle, and promoting regular yoga and exercise for better health. Additionally, the Governor called for heightened efforts to eliminate TB under the TB Mukt Abhiyan.

The Governor also addressed the need to reduce school dropout rates, especially among girls, and highlighted the importance of education for children from marginalized backgrounds. He urged the establishment of libraries and continuous organization of events to instill moral values and social responsibility among students. Further, he advocated for increased student participation in the NCC and preserving national heritage.

Governor Acharya called on the district administration to support the elderly, particularly the helpless and abandoned, through community resources. Women's empowerment, skill development, and participation in self-help groups were underscored as critical areas for attention. Special focus was also placed on developing educational and healthcare facilities in tribal and forest areas.

Lastly, Superintendent of Police Akshat Garg briefed the Governor on the current law and order situation in Chirang. The Governor stressed the importance of traffic rule awareness and improving road safety. The meeting saw attendance from various officials across security agencies. (ANI)
