Kamlesh Singh Joins BJP: A Strategic Shift Ahead of Jharkhand Elections

In a significant political development, Kamlesh Singh, the sole Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) legislator from Jharkhand, has switched allegiances to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections.
On Friday, Singh, who represents Hussainabad, formalized his departure from the Hemant Soren-led government and was warmly welcomed by Jharkhand BJP president Babulal Marandi at a ceremony held at the party headquarters. The ceremony was also attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the election co-in-charge for Jharkhand.
Singh's defection follows a year of political turbulence and comes after his demand for Hussainabad to be made a separate district was denied. His move reflects the internal shifts within the NCP, particularly in Maharashtra, where Singh has aligned with the faction led by Ajit Pawar, which is allied with the BJP.
