In a dramatic turn of events, Maharashtra's secretariat witnessed chaos as supporters of Dhangar reservation took their protest to new heights. On Tuesday, four individuals leaped onto safety nets on the second floor of the Mantralaya, demanding Scheduled Tribes (ST) reservation for the Dhangar community.
The protest saw an active participation of around 15 individuals, including followers of former MLA Prakash Shendge. As tensions escalated, police intervened, detaining several protesters and transferring them to Marine Drive police station for further action.
With assembly elections approaching, Mantralaya is becoming a focal point for demonstrations. On October 4, tribal leaders, including Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal, also resorted to jumping onto safety nets over quota issues. As protests intensify, authorities brace for more such events.
