The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer, P K Pole, has commended all stakeholders for the smooth execution of the recent assembly elections in the Union Territory.
This marked the first elections in the region since Article 370's abrogation and the bifurcation of the state in 2019 into Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. It was also the first assembly election since 2014, garnering significant public involvement and attention.
The elections, held over three phases, saw a robust voter turnout, indicating a strong public commitment to democratic engagement. The National Conference-Congress coalition emerged victorious with 48 seats, while the BJP secured 29. Independents and smaller parties also gained representation, showcasing a diverse political landscape.
