Quota activist Manoj Jarange announced on Sunday his plans to field Maratha candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections in constituencies where the community has significant influence.
Addressing a gathering in Antarwali Sarti village, Jalna district, Jarange emphasized fielding Maratha candidates where there's a genuine chance of winning. In reserved segments, his group supports others advocating the Maratha cause.
He requires candidates to pledge support for the reservation demand. Elections for the 288-member Maharashtra assembly are slated for November 20, with results on November 23. Jarange accused Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of hindering the Maratha reservation movement.
