The United States has sanctioned entities from Iran and Russia, accusing them of attempting to interfere in the 2024 election. The U.S. Treasury revealed these entities aimed to influence the electorate through disinformation. Both Russia and Iran have denied allegations, with ongoing concerns over election integrity.

The United States has taken decisive action, imposing sanctions on entities in Iran and Russia amid allegations of meddling in the 2024 U.S. election. The U.S. Treasury announced that organizations linked to Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps and Russia's military intelligence are accused of trying to sway American voters through disinformation tactics.
Treasury's Acting Under Secretary, Bradley Smith, emphasized the severity of their interference, stating, "The Governments of Iran and Russia have targeted our election processes to divide Americans." Russia and Iran have dismissed the allegations, with Russia's Washington embassy denouncing them as "malicious slander."
The Treasury also pointed out that Russian and Iranian entities have employed advanced technologies like AI to distribute fabricated content aimed at discrediting election candidates. These activities underscore growing concerns about foreign attempts to disrupt electoral processes in the United States.
