Germany Calls for Inclusive Peace Talks Involving Ukraine
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stressed the importance of involving Ukraine and Europe in peace talks concerning Ukraine during an interview. Despite recent conversations between President Trump and Russian and Ukrainian leaders, Baerbock emphasized the need for direct communication with European players in the peace process.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock made a strong case for the involvement of Ukraine and European nations in peace talks over the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. She was responding to recent discussions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding Ukraine. Baerbock emphasized that Europe's voice is crucial for achieving peace.
In an interview with Deutschlandfunk radio, Baerbock criticized the lack of prior communication from the Trump administration, noting that mutual dialogue among all parties is essential. Baerbock, a member of the Greens party, highlighted the unconventional approach of the Trump administration in foreign policy matters.
Meanwhile, Lars Klingbeil, co-leader of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's Social Democrats, echoed the need for stable European involvement. He called for a prompt and decisive signal from Europe, alongside offers extended to the United States, to contribute to a resolution for the conflict.
