In a significant political shift, former Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Rajan Salvi has joined the faction of Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, delivering a critical blow to Uddhav Thackeray's leadership.

Salvi, representing the Rajapur assembly constituency from 2009 to 2024, faced electoral defeat in the November 2024 polls to Shiv Sena's Kiran Samant, brother of Industry Minister Uday Samant. Following his loss, Salvi expressed discontent with party leaders, attributing his defeat to internal mismanagement.

On Wednesday, Salvi resigned as deputy leader of Sena (UBT), citing the internal politics within the party as the reason for his inability to fulfill his role. His exit highlights the growing instability in the coastal Konkan region, once a Thackeray stronghold, as Sena (UBT) grapples with its poor performance in recent elections.
