Thackeray vs Goyal: Clash Over CGPDTM Office Relocation

Uddhav Thackeray accused Union minister Piyush Goyal of moving the CGPDTM office from Mumbai to Delhi, labeling it an insult to Mumbai. Goyal refuted these claims, clarifying only the administration and finance divisions will shift. This sparked a political spat between the Shiv Sena and BJP.

In a recent political clash, Uddhav Thackeray, a prominent leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), accused Union Minister Piyush Goyal of betraying Mumbai by allegedly transferring the Comptroller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks office to Delhi. Thackeray emphasized this act symbolized a disregard for Mumbai's contributions.

Thackeray cited a Commerce Ministry order dated December 3, 2024, to substantiate his claims, suggesting the move denigrates Mumbai. However, Piyush Goyal dismissed these accusations, stating Thackeray's aggression is based on incomplete information and premature assumptions.

Goyal clarified in a social media post that only the CGPDTM's administration and finance division are relocating to Delhi. He highlighted that the Modi government aims to enhance alignment and support for India's innovators, while Thackeray's actions were deemed as unnecessary political agitation.
