In a strategic maneuver ahead of the upcoming MCD mayoral elections, three councilors from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have switched allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), potentially tipping the scales in the BJP's favor.
City BJP President Virendra Sachdeva stated that the addition of these councilors could ensure a 'triple engine' government, aligning municipal, assembly, and central governance to drive Delhi's development, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a 'Viksit Bharat'.
The shifting political landscape saw BJP securing eight assembly seats in February and now increasing its MCD nominations and councilors, aiming to reclaim leadership in the capital after AAP's decade-long dominance.
