Arab States in Diplomatic Shuffle to Counter Trump's Controversial Gaza Scheme
Arab states are hastily formulating a diplomatic counter to President Trump's plan for U.S. control of Gaza and resettlement of Palestinians. Key issues remain unresolved, such as Gaza's governance and reconstruction funding. An alternative Egyptian proposal is under consideration, with Arab leaders meeting to align strategies.
Arab nations swiftly dismissed President Donald Trump's proposal for U.S. dominion over Gaza and resettlement of its Palestinians. Now, these states are urgently assembling a diplomatic response to thwart the plan, according to inside sources.
Trump's proposal, revealed during an unstable ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, disrupted decades of U.S. diplomacy focused on a two-state solution. However, the details, including funding for Gaza's reconstruction, estimated at over $50 billion, remain unresolved, sources said.
Leaders from Gulf Arab nations, along with Egypt and Jordan, are slated to convene in Riyadh to deliberate on counterstrategies, potentially centered on an Egyptian initiative proposing relocation plans for Palestinians in Jordan and Egypt.
