Stalin Defends Tamil Identity Against Central Policies

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin criticized the Central government's National Education Policy, accusing it of undermining the Tamil language and regional autonomy. He argued that cooperative federalism should be based on mutual respect and warned the Centre against actions detrimental to Tamil Nadu's interests.

In a fiery address, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin openly criticized the central government, emphasizing that any move against Tamil identity and regional autonomy would be strongly opposed by his administration. He insisted that as long as the DMK was in power, Tamil Nadu's interests would be safeguarded.

Stalin took aim at Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the National Education Policy (NEP), which he claimed was being used to impose Hindi and undermine Tamil culture. He criticized the central government's alleged requirement for states to accept trilingual policies in exchange for essential educational funds.

The Chief Minister underlined the concept of cooperative federalism, calling it a 'give and receive' approach as envisioned by the Constitution. Meanwhile, he accused the BJP-led central government of promoting communal divides and using education as a vehicle for imposing a single language policy across the nation.
