The newly-formed core committee of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) held its inaugural meeting on Friday amidst a storm of controversy surrounding two of its Maharashtra cabinet ministers.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar chaired the meeting, which focused on discussing organizational strategies and the political climate in the state as the NCP continues to be a part of the BJP-led Mahayuti coalition.
The discussions were significant in light of demands for the resignation of NCP ministers Dhananjay Munde and Manikrao Kokate, both embroiled in legal troubles. Munde is facing scrutiny due to his aide's arrest in a criminal case, while Kokate faces imprisonment over a decades-old legal issue.
