The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has voiced strong criticism against the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led administration in Andhra Pradesh for discontinuing the Disha women's protection app. This app, developed during the previous government, was replaced with a new application named 'Suraksha.'

State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha set forth a detailed strategy for the new Suraksha app during a high-profile police review meeting, creating friction with the YSRCP. Aimed at bolstering women's safety, the Suraksha app is slated to launch by International Women's Day in March, supported by Suraksha teams in each district and continuous monitoring.

YSRCP leader P Shiv Shankar Reddy contends that the former Disha app already had extensive contributions to women's safety, including a high user base and integrated response features. The debate further intensified at Maris Stella College, where it was revealed the Disha app is non-functional. Anitha aims to reinforce efforts with women's help desks and a 24/7 call center, signifying robust actions towards safeguarding women.
