In response to swirling speculations about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal aiming for a Rajya Sabha seat, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar categorically denied such claims. Kakkar reinforced that Kejriwal remains focused on his duties as the national convenor of AAP, dismissing rumors as entirely baseless.
The rumors emerged following AAP's nomination of Rajya Sabha MP Sanjiv Arora for the Ludhiana West assembly by-election, leading to conjecture that his current Rajya Sabha seat might be handed to Kejriwal. Meantime, Kejriwal sharply criticized the BJP for allegedly removing BR Ambedkar's photograph from government offices, including the Chief Minister's premises.
Claiming that this act has deeply hurt Ambedkar’s followers, Kejriwal urged the BJP to retain Ambedkar’s image while allowing the Prime Minister’s picture to be displayed. Protests ensued with AAP staging demonstrations outside the Delhi Assembly besides using Ambedkar's photo prominently. The tension peaked with Speaker Vijender Gupta suspending 21 MLAs as a new Public Accounts Committee was announced.
