Rajasthan Congress Protests Assembly Suspension

Rajasthan Congress leader Ashok Gehlot and fellow MLAs staged a protest outside the state legislative assembly over the suspension of six Congress MLAs. They demand the ruling party address the alleged objections against them and rectify the Assembly's records concerning remarks made by a state minister.

Rajasthan Congress leader and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, along with other Congress MLAs, staged a protest outside the state legislative assembly on Thursday. Their demonstration was in response to the suspension of six party MLAs. Gehlot criticized the ruling party, stating that it showed no concern for their protest, accused them of targeting Congress leader Govind Singh Dotasra, and claimed attempts to defame Congress.

Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, Tika Ram Jully, echoed these sentiments, arguing that the ruling party's fear of divergent views led to the protest. Jully accused the government of dictatorial practices and expressed frustration over the unresolved deadlock, which is preventing meaningful discussions, including on the budget.

Congress MLAs also protested a purported derogatory 'Daadi' remark by state minister Avinash Gehlot about former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The party insists the comments be removed from the official record, demanding an apology. In contrast, the BJP defends the minister, claiming no derogatory intent. Six Congress MLAs, including Govind Singh Dotasra, were suspended by speaker Vasudev Devnani.
