Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has strongly criticized the central government, labeling the National Education Policy (NEP) as a 'saffronise policy' aimed at imposing Hindi and jeopardizing Tamil Nadu's education system. Speaking in Tiruvallur, Stalin described the policy as detrimental to regional languages and an affront to the state's educational autonomy.
Stalin accused the central authorities of withholding funds to pressure Tamil Nadu into accepting the NEP. He contended that the policy marginalizes non-Hindi speaking states and reflects a broader attempt to undermine Tamil Nadu's development under the DMK government's leadership. He asked whether the Union Government's actions align with its federalism promises.
Despite claims by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan that the NEP promotes multilingualism, Stalin remained adamant, suggesting the policy was a tactic to divert attention from governance issues. Emphasizing the state's progress and commitment to social justice, Stalin urged unity against perceived central government overreach and BJP's 'fascism.'
